oh to be finally be awake

with all your beliefs really gone


and you supine on the killing floor

of your own consequence


that is hardest of all to bear

that is the cold truth of looking up


into the empty heavens and knowing

all you've searched for is so far beyond the sky


that even though it is buried deep with in you

you still got lost on the way


at least close this sojourn on earth

with learning that much


maybe next time your load would weigh you down

and you'll have a fighting chance to do right...
