the barbarians  got

inside the gates


put up a scanner

but didn't widely issue swipe cards


and the employees

heard us when we came outside the gates


and yelled Fools! Open the gates!

we're the rescue team!


so they ignored us

and when back to their work


and we...we knew

our day was done


some gave in too late

and others were


stoic in defeat

but either way


the slaves ate heartily

while we died off the grid....
