get off your pulpit and lend us a hand


if God helps those who help themselves

think how godly if you did it first


for us it's the help we needed to do for ourselves

and for you the examination of conscience


whether you did good for others (and we certainly did benefit)

or only for yourself (to no great advantage to you after all)

think on it long and hard then

put it in a sermon to say so in response we can call
