I think I'll take

this day off


forget the heinous intractable

demands of the world


those who've traded their souls

to be cogs in this infernal machine


can have their vainglory

and rot and may no one else


be dragged down into these

power-mad tyrants's hells


I'm taking this day off

to recharge and refresh myself


to join again the daily grind

that churns out our very content
