love fails
friends betray each other
nothing lasts but ideals we come to doubt
in the reckonings of our ruining lives--
this was once considered 'classic nobility'--
the acceptance of the conditions of earthly reality--
now crazed egotists think they walk with the Universal Forces--
do what they will in their personal evil and believe
the Universe will support them
and they get over because the Universe supports all its creatures--
now their fake gurus bless their mendacity and their walk
as laws unto themselves--
and the spiritual reality behind these misapplications
groans with our serial errors-
don't be one of these--the facts of life aren't an inconvenience
or a tyranny or an embarrassing boom on your white rug--
it's face your mess and clean it--
it's level with those you love and have guts enough
to walk if you have to--
because we're all in the shit--
because God sits in His heaven and weeps for us--
because unless you're straighter than an arrow
you'll have no friend in this world
