caught in these ridiculously hard times
all I love are suffering
and those who are comfortable
are more insufferably selfish
and uncaring as they've ever been
it means nothing to say God will have the last word
the One is still busy clearing His throat
(more's the pity)
but this is the time when we stop
bowing and scraping before such idols
and take in hand the roiling surges of happenings
and bring them to heal ourselves
we may fail but we at least we tried...
