unfortunately for the
overly-sensitive soul

memory is the content
of the soul and no experience

is ever lost--so when we lose
our way forward

all we can do is fall back on
everything that brought us to this point--

even if we didn't get
what we thought we wanted--

and this hurts the most--
the gaping hole where a want--a need--

a love that should have been
was not--

don't scare me like that...even though it is 11/24/09 and one of your last poems discussed maybe not having this blog anymore...i want you to know that i LOVE your blog. I LOVE this poem. I LOVE how you write about love and relationships...harsh, visual, honest..."we desire the way a twice-poisoned dog eyes a third piece of meat" has literally been the quote that i use for everything since i read it in a book, as it is not only true, but describes me too much. please know that you have touched someone out there, and i have posted many links to your blog in support of you. thank you, mr. milito.

I feel like a fool answering you almost a year later...but I am not so tech-savvy...(downright old school) and only discovered your (and others!!!) comments today (in the last half hour to be somewhat precise)...I want to thank you absolutely and totally!...You can't imagine how gratifying it is to read of your support for this endeavor...many many thanks...please DO continue to link at will...That is the whole point...and please do keep in touch if you've a mind to...and again, please forgive my unintentional rudeness...

Ok, so now I just saw your response. I have to tell you how thrilled I was to receive it! Question...Is there a site somewhere where your work is categorized by topic instead of date? As a girl longing to stop being the dog eying the meat, I would love to see all of your poems done about love. Perhaps about stopping the daunting task of trying to convince people to love you...I'm sick of it. I often find something you wrote, and it makes me feel better. Thank you for your continued commitment to this blog <3

Hey! Glad you're still with me...and glad anything I could say could help you in any way...there's no other site currently batching this material by (limited-- granted) topics...but I am thinking about me own website...I have a ton of material that predates the blog..(I's just a writin' fool)...please do keep in touch if you're a mind to...I'll let you know how it goes...May to July 2009 was a particularly stressful love period...it's hard to separate the love from the spiritual stuff...it's all one to me--(influence of people like Leonard Cohen and Dylan)--and so scattered through the whole blog..but like I said...glad and gratified you're still with me...all best, Phil
