long the ages have trailed behind us
and long they stretch ahead
and in this time we've come to share
all trails fuse instead
leading nowhere but
to where each of us are
a distance we think of as great
but never truly all that far
time pulls us on and we can only follow
on toward where we are led
with long ages trailing behind us
and long ages stretching ahead
