humankind does its best
to hurry hard to build its nest
and stock it high and stock it fine
and individually say it's all mine
when cooperation fails
whose freedom of action prevails?
when all that busy endeavor sinks
who cares what someone else thinks?
how noble and how right we feel
when we can justify what we manage to steal
and how easily we bless those who challenged us
when they failed to keep us from killing the rest
this is what humankind does best...
fakes piety to justify its inhumanity with each failed quest
