it's wonderful not to have to deal any longer

with people who were so ungracious

as to not leave when their term with you is up


the earth despite its incessant bleeding

seems fresh and whole and new

(if only for the moment of appreciation)


and though the earth bleed on with its terrors

it's wonderful not to have to keep bandaging

the part of it they represented...
