good God haven't I been here before?

it looks so familiar


past styles reverberate in new forms and

old echoes in new voices


vast and mysterious

but trite and predictable


we're nowhere near some cosmic end-game

though some of us wish we were


the new tyrant sounds no different

than the old style one


the reformer mirrors the tyrant's style

and still thinks it's for a greater purpose


good God the new liberation still enslaves

I've been here before watching the same bread and circus games
