it's Election Day in the USA


and no way leads forward


both sides will lead us to a disaster

both sides offer a hoax of choice


one by leading back to the past

that brought us to this impossible impasse

and the other by leading us forward

into the conditions set by all the previous conditions

as if they could be adjusted

to the new realities wiping off the world

all the consequence of our sins of pride

neither side wanting to give up its power


and we who will huddle in transition towns

beset by all the mind who cannot comprehend this ultimate


sea-change will offer meaningless prayers

to an empty sky


it's Election day

and we've elected to die...
