inching along the decent streets

has been reduced by the evil in the world

to a heap with glowing eyes

and shafts of light shining out from his skull


from where the bats and jack handles

of an outraged disgusted community

has bludgeoned the creature unmercifully

until nothing is left but their own hatred expelled
