I'm not all that wise

but not all that foolish either


I split the difference

with every choice I make


the control we have in life

is making our next move


nothing else is our business

and how we end up


is out of our hands in a way

I'll love and do what I will


but that guarantees nothing

nor should it if all purity of intent


is on us as in no ways up to it ourselves

each of us acting this way


decides the outcomes we covet

and those that we fear


and the only way out is to press forward

despite the consequence that dogs us


don't wish you'd woken up sooner

it wouldn't've made a difference


you play it as it lays and take it from there

and whatever happens happens
