beware the assurances
that people will make to you
your benefit will dwindle
in proportion to their commission
I am grateful for those
who've been truly grateful
and our trust is as strong
as it is rare
but it took so much
to distinguish them
from the grasping hands full of 'gimme'
and the equivocal 'much obliged'
oh beware who doesn't know
each other's interest is one...
