my friend spoke through a medium

to his wife recently

his wife still among us in our earthly skins

while he was far less encumbered


and all the words and attitudes

even third hand through her retelling of the event

sounded exactly like him

death diminishing him not a whit


which cheered her and even me upon hearing this

knowing all my anguish and misery

a pitiful joke for the entertainment of spirit essences

and how this news awakened my spirit for a little while


my only remorse being how I'm still in this skin


my full eagerness being how I endure and gladly go forward

when I'm allowed when I am able...
