the last of any lineage
carries a fatalism that liberates
one from historical expectation
as to be the totality of all
the previous personages
the absolute representative
of its blood's traits
even if each generation
is a diminishment
of the initial spark
the original gleam some memory
in a Universal Mind
oh the pity on that last of all one
they don't call it the descent of man for nothing...
