oh such false hope...
you said you found a way forward
and I knew you were heading back to some old time
longer ago now than the second that has just past us
oh this is how we lost our minds
we think we're doing such good
and all we do is add to our foolishness
and we call our unfortunate errors determinative harm
while our imagined good is some impossibility
to our shame recognized only afterward the fact
