I've often felt this life

was a make-good

for some past terrible

earthly sojourn


and that I failed

to make good


oh I know this doesn't

have to stand

that repair and repentance

lie in my hand


and that what's to come already is

but once you've reached


the end of the block

what else to do but turn a corner?
