how we mourn the things we tried to take
when they weren't ours to have
and how we dismiss and disdain all that's ours
because we failed in our attempt at robbery
we ignore our aspirations and mock our fates
while consequence with its fatal certainty
leave us empty of will and desire which would be
wonderful if we understood how free this loss makes us
