explain to the night sky
why you think you deserve a break
the wheel-chaired palsy victim
down the hall has it worse
the newly blind listen to the lifers
with ears super-attuned
the unemployable broken man
waiting for his last meal of hamburger and a drink
on the corner that is his territory
yes you too can wind up so defiled in this world
your parents wouldn't stand up for you
but if it's down to you
you're better draining the wound at last
healing will heal if you don't wish to die in your imagination
