who in their right minds
can affirm the hell
that humanity's vainglory
has made of this world?
what drugs are they on?
how deep and wide
a hole in the sand
to hide their heads?
and why must those of us
who know life as
the suffering thing it is
suffer more at the hands
of these self-involved oracles
each hand dragging down the ankle over it?
