we've sinned against each other

with our own subjective excuses


and it is as though all we adhered to is

foolish since life changed around us


while we clung to our own ideas of love

and received the breaking for which we were bound


tatters of our poor attempts to do right


with God calling the actual shots from His metempirical totality
