beware the one who can extrapolate
this one does not rely on vision
or idle speculation
this one simply knows reality
and can project our basic reality
to its likely end
like the last gloom-drenched pages
of The Time Machine
when Wells's time traveler
sees gigantic organisms lumbering
in a fatal darkness
while our sun is at last
a dying red dwarf
about to exhume the long experiment of Earth
