I didn't ask but oh what I got--
the universe shifted around my every move
and all I'd had was suddenly not--
but I wasn't about trying to prove--
hapless before merciless onslaught
that the One was set only to deceive--
that all was not as I originally thought--
I'll know better to toss proud reserve
and ask to be up to taking what I deserve--
and should I fail at that typical task--
shrug and say I don't know I asked
for a cow and they sent me a pig--
and whistle deep and small as the sky is broad and big
