EVER THUS HE SAID EASILY

vicious and evil and power-mad

some psycho with rocks

wants things his way

and wrecks every life that he can touch

and congratulates himself on his triumph


and he gets over because he deals

with power-mad psychos as vicious as he is

and they'll work together to enslave the world

until some turn in the market decrees kill or be killed


all Authority is evil and continues because of our cowardice

or is it cowardice? is it not that we covet all

that they have and want it for ourselves?

we poor have-nots live in a dream of dominance

cultivated by the very real-time rulers we love and hate....

the dream of a day


when nothing happens

but the calm of a humid afternoon


and you're dissolved into a puddle

of acquiescence


any dreamer will tell you

61 years old

and I'm still a child at heart


the world the rim of a grave

and struggle against the falling dirt

so playing mean

and being all hard-scrabble

about it is the world's M.O.


but if you can keep sweet

about it and and not let

the others take too big


a bite of you then maybe...just maybe...

you won't deceive yourself

with a fantasy of blessings beyond


what you've gotten for yourself...

you could short-change yourself

but never short-change the cosmos....
