HOW TO LIVE IN THE WORLD

dismiss all conscience

acquiesce to the murderous herd

celebrate all who destroy ideals

and principles in the name of serving them


and most of all spin people like me

as smug self-righteous and judgmental

as we try to do the right thing

even when what’s right is somewhat confusing


in this welter of woes we call daily business

(see…even stating it in this way is an invitation

to malice and resentment from foe and friend alike


give thought to nothing but yourself and that is how

you’ll gain the world and lose your life
