the young of today
have rituals more extreme
(in a controlled way)
but essentially not much different
than ours
as ours were another step of wildness
from the ones before us
and all of it an illusion
every generation thinks they invented
binge drinking or anal sex
or larceny
what apes we all are
praising the banana as if we were
the first to discover it....
