many find it better (or more expedient)
to cling to a hurt
than heal under fire...
while we mourn one generation's marker
of an historical tragedy
the Fates are simply weaving from the past
the future patterns we will repeat
because we weren't brave enough
to venture forth in the shock of our loss
to break the chain of bigoted genealogies
and free ourselves from ancient hates
that won't be resolved until the end of all things
divide the wheat from the dross
and the permanent from the temporary...
