I tried to piece together a history of Savonarola

by projecting myself into his biography--

now I burn at a stake made of this ordinary day

for merely attempting repentance (difficult--

difficult) by being too close a reader--

like finding everything you know to be right

to really be wrong--I'd post a review critiquing

this version of Savonarola if I could walk out

of the flames of this instant--unbound--and know

who it is I'm repenting of--(difficult--difficult)
